Sugar Under Control is an herbal mixture with probiotics that works together with feed intake to alleviate symptoms of excess carbohydrate intake and reduce the risk of laminitis.
With the arrival of the spring months and the beginning of new pasture growth, horses become more sensitive to the intake of carbohydrates from new pasture, the values of which change during sunlight and climatic conditions.
New pasture and the intake of concentrated, carbohydrate feeds, for which horses are not prepared, always result in a change in intestinal microflora, a decrease in pH in the intestines and an increase in gram-positive bacteria that produce waste products such as lactic acid and toxins. With this change in intestinal dysbiosis, the production of endotoxins and inflammatory mediators, the risk of developing laminitis may arise.
The substances contained in herbs act on several levels. They slow down the enzymatic processes of starch digestion, induce reduced resorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine,
they can stimulate the growth of pancreatic cells and increase the release of insulin. At the same time, the mixture supports the excretory system, metabolism. It relieves stress on the digestive system from high sugar levels.
Probiotic microorganisms Alltech Yea Sacc ®1026 reduce the concentration of lactic acid, stabilize the pH of the cecum and colon, minimize disruption of its function.
